I find small tables to be the most enjoyable of projects. There is a surprising design freedom in such a deceptively simple item. They come together pretty quickly so I get a grand feeling of accomplishment.

This nice little side table works well in cherry or maple. The gently tapered legs are thinned on their inside faces to enhance the lightness of the piece. The top has a bottom bevel so it appears thinner than it really is.
The rails are set flush with the legs rather than being inset. These more difficult touches reminiscent of the 18th century yield a piece of deceptive lightness. People are always surprised by the weight when they lift it.
