This the part of the site where the two people who ever read these things usually learn about the many bustling factories with hundreds of dedicated workers standing by just waiting to make that piece they've always wanted.  That doesn't happen here.  There is just me, a guy working in his barn, concentrating on one job at a time and making it right.  Most of my customers prefer that their living room not look like it came from General Motors.    I can envision such an environment, I just wouldn't want to live there.

I don't like furniture that shouts "LOOK AT ME!!!!".  I think our surroundings should produce that same contentment we get when we are in the company of old and true friends.  My designs tend to be rooted in the classic American tradition because I'm not vain enough to think I could dream up something radically better than that.  There isn't anything better.  That those old ideas are so enduring speaks to their fundamental soundness.

I started woodworking (aside from shop class) over forty years ago when I got  a part-time job in a small boat building operation in Ithaca NY,  building racing sailboats of wood and fiberglass.  I had been there six months before they would let me pick up a tool more dangerous than a varnish brush.  I've been at it off and on ever since, taking time out for a career to

make enough money to support a family.  Now retired, I can devote my entire effort to this endeavor.  I haven't enjoyed work so much since I left the boat business for a real job.
